You need to map the drive on all the other computers themselves. You're only setting up a local mapping this way. The result is going to be the same if you run the command on the "server" computer. I could be wrong, but that looks like a wizard for the net use command. This might be the clue we were looking for. I can see the network drive that I have mapped in the “My PC” under “Network Devices” on the host computer, but that’s it, so I know I have mapped it properly, but I guess I’m not sharing it properly either.Īny ideas on why I cannot the mapped network drive to appear on any of the other PCs under the “My PC” tab?Īgain, while on the new PC that I’m trying setup to be a network, I can on the “My PC” "This PC" tab under “Network Devices” the drive I just mapped with the letter I just mapped it to, but not on other PC that are on the network. Now, this is a viable solution, but still I’d prefer not to retrain the entire staff on how to access the drive, and honestly for my own peace of mind I want to solve on how to get this drive to appear on the “My PC” tab under “Network Devices”. It is named under the name of the PC, and I can click on it and access the folders that I have shared/mapped within it. The network drive can now be found under the “Network” tab that is below “My PC”. I’ve been down the YouTube and Reddit rabbit hole on multiple occasions, and no matter what it will not show up on the “My Pc” tab under “Network Devices”.
The issue I’m facing is that no matter what I try, I can not get the new network drive to appear on other employees PCs properly. So, we decided to get a new network drive mapped and online via a different PC. Recently, this PC has shown signs of being on its way out, I’ve had to get it back up and running a few times. This drive is listed as “P Drive” and this drive can found on the “My PC” tab under the “Network Devices”(?) tab. They save most of their documents and such to this drive. In the server room, we have an old Windows 7 PC that is being used as network server/drive for employees. In addition to that, I do a small amount of IT stuff for my job.

I am the full time A/V director at a church. EDIT**** I just realized it’s supposed to be “This PC” everywhere i typed “My PC”ĭisclaimer: I know there are plenty of threads on this topic, but haven’t found one that has cured my issues completely.
